Quirky Family

Quirky FamilyQuirky Family

A whimsical look at family members. Perhaps even yours.

Who are these people?

These folks posed for professional studio portraits in the late 1800s and early 1900s. It was an expensive luxury and resulted in valued keepsakes for family members. After two or three generations these folks and their portraits were largely forgotten, their  once cherished images were discarded or stored away in some dusty attic.

I discovered some of these in an antique mall and wondered what those persons were like. What were their hopes and aspirations? What were their foibles and idiosyncrasies?

The longer those portraits sat on my desk the more they seemed to take on human characteristics, much like the same quirks of my own family members and friends.

How fabulous it would be if they could now look at their portraits taken a hundred or so years ago and see what became of them. It would help if they still had a good sense of humor.
